Sessions
|

For those already involved in judo, the County Squad runs at three different levels. The main senior and junior squads meet approximately every two months, dates varying because of competitive and holiday considerations. Usually sessions are on Tuesdays and are held at Kidderminster 's Samurai Club, which is the biggest club and also has the largest mat area in the county. Dates are published on the latest county newsletter – click on the newsletters icon for both the latest and all back copies. All players within the county (including BJC and AJA players) are welcome on the sessions, which are free. The sessions are coached by the county's most successful competitive coaches, but they are also an opportunity to meet and train with other players in the county. Getting to meet other people is one of the greatest benefits of judo, and training with players from other clubs is also very important if you want to improve. For less experienced and newcomer junior players, we also have something else, the Kids Help Kids sessions. We are fortunate in this county to have a number of young national and international players, including four current British Junior National Champions and three current British International representatives. These young talents all support the county by coaching an approximately bi-monthly session for junior low grades and novices. The idea is for the new players to see just how a junior player of their own age or just a few years older can do the throws, as well as getting an insight into how these players train and what they can achieve. This idea is unique to Worcestershire (as far as I know!) and has been a great success. Again, see the newsletters for details of the next session. It is important to note that the KHK sessions are not competitive, they are just about learning judo and any newcomer to the sport can come along. Please, though, clear your visit with your club coach, and the same thing goes for the main squad sessions |
